Beaver Dam Schools Improve DPI Report Card Scores

(BEAVER DAM) Beaver Dam public schools are performing better than last year on the state’s annual report cards. The district as a whole is identified as “meeting expectations.” Prairie View and Washington elementary schools scored the highest possible marks in the district with scores of “significantly exceeds expectations.”

“The report card provides another meaningful way to reflect on our progress as a district,” said Superintendent Mark DiStefano in a press release. “The growth we see across so many areas is the result of a true team effort.”

The Department of Public Instruction issues a report card for all public schools and districts every year. The report cards grade performance in achievement, growth, target group outcomes, and on-time graduation.

Lincoln Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, and Beaver Dam High School all increased their performance score, and their ratings fall into the category of “meeting expectations.” Beaver Dam Middle School met “few expectations,” but did see a notable increase in math achievement. Wilson Elementary earned a performance level of “exceeding expectations” in its final year of service.

“While we can and should celebrate progress, we know our work is never done,” said DiStefano. “We remain deeply committed to continuous improvement and to ensuring that every student in Beaver Dam has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.”

K-12 school and district report cards were first introduced in the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction during the 2011-2012 school year. For the first time in more than a decade, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction has made changes to its school report card system. The changes strive for fairness, transparency, and alignment with contemporary performance measurements.
