UPDATE: $3000 In Damage To Beaver Dam Rotary Lights Display

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Rotary Club’s Christmas light installation at Swan Park has been vandalized. Several of the light displays, trees and the newly created gingerbread house were damaged and, in some cases, destroyed. The perpetrators apparently used stolen golf carts in damaging the holiday display. One golf cart was abandoned near the wreckage; tire tracks can be seen in the muddy bed of the park’s drained pond.

Both Beaver Dam Police Chief John Kreuziger and Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt are members of Beaver Dam Rotary and are working together to find the perpetrators of what they describe as “senseless vandalism.”

The damage is estimated at approximately $3000. The sheriff will be working to get the park back in shape in time for the lights to go on this evening. Unfortunately, some of the lights will not be able to be repaired, but Schmidt says the light show will go on and the club will not let this incident ruin everyone’s holiday spirit.

Schmidt says once the identity of the perpetrators is known, they will be held responsible for their actions. This is the third time in as many years that theft or vandalism has occurred to the Rotary lights display.

Anyone with information is encouraged to reach out to the Beaver Dam Police Department.
