Beaver Dam Man Charged With Running From Sheriff’s Deputies

(Calamus) A Beaver Dam man accused of running from authorities has made his initial appearance in court. Kevin Kaul is facing a felony count of Fleeing as well as Bail Jumping.

A sheriff’s deputy parked in the median of Highway 151 last Friday, October 6th, in the town of Calamus spotted a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy turned on their emergency lights, but the suspect vehicle accelerated away.

According to the complaint, the fleeing vehicle weaved in and out of traffic at considerable speed. Law enforcement followed the suspect to a Beaver Dam mobile home park. A DOT records search reportedly showed that the vehicle involved was registered to Kaul.

When questioned, Kaul allegedly admitted to being behind the wheel and when asked if he knew he was being pursued said (quote) “oh, yes I did.”

If convicted, the 45-year-old faces up to nine-and-a-half-years in prison. Cash bond was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 19th.
