(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam man accused of having illicit content of children made his initial appearance in court. Chandler Semrau is facing eight felony counts of Child Pornography.
According to the complaint, Beaver Dam police began investigating a Cyber Tip from Dropbox after suspected child porn had been uploaded in 2022. The IP address associated with the tip reportedly led investigators to an address in the city where Semrau was living.
When questioned, he allegedly said that he would visit a Discord server that would post illegal images. The complaint states that Semrau told law enforcement that he does not have a preference for children.
When authorities searched the defendant’s devices, no images were stored on them. However, there was evidence that Semrau reportedly accessed the images that were received by investigators after filing a search warrant through Dropbox.
If convicted, the 25-year-old faces up to 200 years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 28th.
