(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam High School’s Math Team recently took first place in a state math contest. The team competed in the 2025 Wisconsin Math Council State Math Competition and took first place in the Class A Division. The competition consisted of five mathematical tests with four of them being completed individually and one being completed as a group.
Students with high scores were awarded medals. Winning Gold medals for Beaver Dam were Ethan Roen, Owen Hemling and Cecelia Zahn. Winning Silver Medals were Kaitlynn Jameson, Carter Rommelfanger and Lincoln Titus. Other members of the team consisted of team captain Tyler Winkel and Colten Reissmann.
Beaver Dam High School Math Teacher Dave Sager says it is great seeing students recognized for their hard work.
“We have a lot of really good math students here and I don’t think they always get recognized,” says Sager. “This was a great way for them to show the community that…they ranked right up there with the top in the state.”
Beaver Dam High School added Math Team as a school club this year. Along with the state competition the students participated in Wisconsin Math League and Wisconsin Math Talent Search. During the school year, students participated in field trips to UW Madison Math Lab for presentations of math research as well as going to Milwaukee and attending a presentation of statistics given by the Milwaukee Admirals statistician.
