Beaver Dam High School Fieldhouse Open To Public On Thursday

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School District’s Fieldhouse will be open to students at the high school on Tuesday and the to the general public on Thursday. Among the new additions funded as part of the $49-million-dollar referendum approved by voters in the fall is the athletic facility with five, full-sized basketball courts, considered to be among the biggest of its kind in the state. The Beaver Dam Golden Beaver girls basketball teams will be playing starting with junior varsity at 5:45pm and 7:15pm for the varsity. Superintendent Mark DiStefano says that anticipates that it will be well-attended. DiStefano says there will be no official grand opening or ribbon cutting for the Fieldhouse as that is being reserved for when the entire project is complete in the fall and a large-scale dedication will be held. The Fieldhouse will be accessible through a commons area located at the main entrance, which is being moved from Gould Street to the eastside of the building near what was formerly called the circle parking lot. DiStefano says the commons area is not complete and attendees on Thursday should be prepared to walk in a construction zone. From a practicality of use and a security standpoint, DiStefano the commons area – once complete – will be an ideal situation. He says from the moment a person walks in, they will be able to access not only the Fieldhouse but also the administrative offices to the right, the performing arts auditorium to the left, the cafeteria in the middle and down a short hallway the academic wing.
