
On Sunday, December 28th the Beaver Dam Bowling teams competed in Weston, WI for the annual Weston Winter Classic. Both Girls and Boys teams were hot in qualifying with the Girls qualifying 2nd and the Boys in 3rd. Entering the second round in a seeded double elimination bracket, the Girls went 2-0 and secured a bye to the Championship round. Facing Wittenburg in the finals, the pressure was all on Wittenburg, having to beat BD twice. BD dropped the first match 551-502 but bounced back to win the last match 516-463 to take home the gold! The Beaver boys never got it going in the second round getting eliminated with an 0-2 record.
This past Sunday, January 4th, the teams continued District play at Watertown Bowl North after a short holiday break. The girls had a pivitol first match against district leader, Watertown. A match win would tighten the gap with just 2 weeks left in the season. The girls were down early and needed the final 4 games to halve the match. Unable to get it done the Beaver girls now trail Watertown by 2 points. Senior Brianna Klimek(Fall River HS) led the way match 1 with 11 strikes and just one open frame. The boys were in a big hole match 1 versus a Columbus based co-op team. They secured match points in the final 5 games to take the match.
Match 2 put the Boys vs. the Girls, and it was a very tight match. The boys won the final 3 games to take the match. The Beaver Boys remain undefeated and on top the District standings with both victories. Senior Garrett Boettcher had a monster day with 23 recordable strikes and just 1 open frame.
