The Beaver Dam High School girls basketball team rolled past Port Washington 52-30 in a WIAA Division 2 Sectional Semifinal Thursday night at Homestead High School in Mequon.
The Golden Beavers set the tone early, jumping out to a 26-6 lead in the first 10 minutes and never looked back. Beaver Dam built a 34-14 halftime advantage, knocking down seven three-pointers in the first seventeen minutes. The lead grew to as many as 27 points in the second half.
Kennedy Karel led the way with a game-high 13 points, including 11 in the first half while Emma Julka chipped in 11. Norah Merow paced Port Washington (18-8) with 12 points.
Beaver Dam (21-6) advances to face Appleton Xavier on Saturday at Sheboygan South, with a trip to the WIAA Division 2 State Tournament on the line. The Hawks advanced with a 42-39 win over West De Pere. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
