The Beaver Dam High School girls bowling team earned a trip to the state tournament in dramatic fashion on Sunday at Tower Lanes in a winner take all match against Lomira. The event was broadcast live on DailyDodge TV.
Lomira won the first game 156-151 in the best of nine Baker style match. The Golden Beavers than came back to take four straight 172-169, 186-146, 168-127, and 177-161 to take a 4-1 series lead. The Lions hung tough taking games six and seven 194-173 and 193-170. Beaver Dam then secured bid to the state tournament in game #8 with a 151-149 victory that came down to 10th frame where senior Alexis Vande Kolk needed 17 pins for the win. She picked up a spare and then collected eight pins on the 3rd ball to secure the victory.
Beaver Dam took the 9th game 181-168 to earn the 6-3 win.
The Golden Beavers roster this year includes; Alexis Vande Kolk, Cady Lee, Kamryn Albert, Jennifer Bennett, Rylee Tesch, Rya Sutton, and Marli Laper. Beaver Dam’s head coach is Calista Janusz.
The 2024 Wisconsin High School Bowling Club State Championships will be held March 1st to 3rd at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay.
