Beaver Dam Fire Department Uses Pizza Delivery to Promote Fire Safety Saturday

(BEAVER DAM) As daylight saving time comes to an end this weekend, Wisconsin Emergency Management is reminding everyone to “fall back” safely — and the Beaver Dam Fire Department is taking that message straight to the community, one pizza at a time.

The department is teaming up with Pizza Ranch in Beaver Dam on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. for a special fundraiser where customers can have their pizza delivered in a fire truck. A portion of dine-in and delivery proceeds will go directly to support the Beaver Dam Fire Department, and tips are appreciated.

To schedule a fire truck delivery, residents can call 920-219-9676.

The event also serves as a reminder to turn clocks back one hour as daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday — and to replace batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Firefighters will even check detectors and change batteries during deliveries if needed.

State officials say working smoke and CO alarms can mean the difference between life and death, and this weekend is an ideal time to test alarms, replace old batteries, and make sure emergency kits are up to date.

Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator Greg Engle says the time change offers a good reminder to check preparedness measures that “keep us safe — from house fires to power outages.”
