(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department was busy last year. They responded to a total of 3,097 calls in 2024, which is a three-percent increase from 2023. Chief Michael Wesle says things continue to stay busy.
โLots of EMS calls, which is our bread and butter, thatโs what we do the majority of the time,โ says Wesle. โBut we did also respond to 52 different fires and 88 motor vehicle accidents over the course of the year.โ
Wesle says about a decade ago, they responded to about 2,700 calls.
โThe interesting thing about that is that was at a time in 2014 when we were doing a lot of inner facility transports from hospital to hospital,โ Wesle says. โSo, if we take that out, ten years ago, we went on 2,400 911 calls, and this year we went on over 3,000.โ
The chief says that it would be about a 26-percent increase from 2014 to 2024.
