(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department has provided some additional details about a response call to the Metalcraft of Mayville on the city’s northside Tuesday night. Fire Chief Michael Wesle says crews responded to the structure on 2020 North Spring Street around 8pm for a report of a small fire in a welding booth.
He says the blaze was contained to the area of origin. Police officers arrived on scene prior to the arrival of firefighters. Crews discharged two dry chemical fire extinguishers on the flames. Wesle says the department then spent around 30 minutes fully extinguishing the fire in an exhaust fan. He says at this time, there is no cause as to what started the blaze.
The facility was evacuated as a precaution and mutual aid was cancelled en route. There were no injuries reported.
