(Beaver Dam) The public is encouraged to take part in a kick off meeting Thursday night for the new Beaver Dam Community Action Plan. The Community Action Plan committee is part of the cityโs Comprehensive Plan update that will shape the future of Beaver Dam for the next 10 to 20 years.
There will also be seven subcommittees developing new ideas, concepts, and recommendations during the five-month process that will be presented to the entire committee. Some of the subcommittees will focus on parks and trails, land use, public facilities, economic development, and infrastructure.
Todd Streeter, who will serve as a consultant on the project and has implemented similar plans in other communities, says communication between each committee is key.
โBecause thereโs a lot of overlap that occurs in any community [on] any given day for anything and thatโs also reflected in this process too,โ says Streeter. โBecause parks and trails that may have an idea that might work really well with land use and so land use needs to know a little bit about what parks and trails might be thinking and maybe thatโs a great fit for something theyโre working on.โ
Thursday nightโs meeting will be held at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre. The evening will start with a social hour from 5pm to 6pm, which is optional. An introduction to the planning process will begin at 6pm outlining the formation of the committee, goals, and setting subcommittee activities.
