Beaver Dam City Administrator Talks 2025 Budget

(Beaver Dam) Beaver Dam’s 2025 budget was recently approved by the Common Council. Next year’s tax levy is down roughly $1.6-million-dollars from the current budget year, to $14-million. The approved mill rate of $8.04-per-one-thousand-dollars of assessed value is $1.46 lower than what taxpayers saw in 2024. General fund expenditures total $18.3-million next year.

City Administrator Nathan Thiel says it was a smooth process assembling the 2025 budget.

“We’ve gotten into a good rhythm with our council and with the department heads…I think the biggest thing was again making sure that we’ve got enough revenues to cover the expenses at hand…we tried to keep things fairly high level as far as policy decisions,” says Thiel.

Thiel notes that there is just over $4.7-million in debt service which is a reduction of $1.4-million from the year prior.
