(Beaver Dam) Three Beaver Dam men, charged in connection to a string of burglaries in Beaver Dam, are heading to trial. Twenty-six-year-old Christopher Young and 57-year-old Melvin Lueck waived their rights to preliminary hearings Thursday. ย Clayton Cartwright was in court for his preliminary hearing; a judge found probable cause for the 22-year-old to proceed to trial. They are all facing a felony count of Burglary of a Building or Dwelling. Beaver Dam police were dispatched to Bill McCollum Way in July after a building owner reported missing $3,200 in various items. Five days later, police were again called out after a nearby storage unit was burglarized. The renter reported missing nearly $2,500 in different tools and batteries. Then, just two days later, another rental unit was broken into. According to the criminal complaint, Young and Lueck were named as suspects because the two were reportedly known to take things from the unit without permission. When questioned, Young and Lueck allegedly both conceded to burglarizing the buildings on numerous occasions. Young also implicated Cartwright who also reportedly admitted to his actions. If convicted, all three face up to 12-and-a-half years in prison. Arraignment hearings are scheduled in the next month.
