11/9/17 – A name has been selected for the new Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre building. Board President Scott Eberle says the name will be the BDACT Fine Arts Center. The theatre’s board of directors voted unanimously on the name Wednesday night, in advance of a November 20th groundbreaking. Eberle says that the name Fine Arts Center allows the theatre to be inclusive and flexible for all possible uses. Completion is anticipated next year, either in the summer or early fall. The $2.6-million-dollar project involves renovating the former St. Patrick’s Elementary School into a 22-thousand-square-foot, state-of-the-art, handicapped-accessible theatre. There would be an increase of almost 10-thousand square feet compared to their current location, plus seating in the main auditorium would increase from 220 to 340 people. Eberle says another $300-thousand still needs to be raised. There is currently matching grant from Bob Keller for $100,000 which means any donation to the new building will be doubled. People can sponsor seats for either $600 or $750 dollars depending on location. Granite floor tiles can be inscribed for $900 dollars apiece. Finally, a name can be enshrined on a donor board in the lobby for $1000 dollars. There are still naming opportunities available throughout the theatre though the name of the main auditorium was announced last year.
