(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam School District’s newest Wall of Fame Award recipients will be honored Tuesday. The two awards the district hands out are the Friends of Education and the Outstanding Alumni.
This year’s Friends of Education are Chuck and Jeanne Stangl, who were both recognized for their distinguished service to the district and its students. Chuck and Jeanne Stangle say it was an emotional moment when they got the news.
“We were crying,” says Chuck Stangle. “Because when you look at our involvement, we didn’t step in to things expecting to be recognized.”
James Campbell, a 1980 graduate of Beaver Dam High School, was named Outstanding Alumni. He says he was astounded when he got the phone call.
“It’s the last thing I every expected,” says Campbell. “When I got a call from 920…I thought who could be calling me…and then I eventually called back, and I was taken completely by surprise. I’m very…very flattered and very…very honored.”
The Wall of Fame Awards Banquet is tomorrow night at the Beaver Dam High School. Award plaques will be permanently displayed on the high school’s Wall of Fame in the commons area.
