BDPD Hosting Online Sexual Exploitation Workshop For Parents

(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Police Department is hosting a parental workshop Wednesday night highlighting the current trends in online sexual exploitation of children.

The agency says the presentation will include an overview of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, some of the top online applications where law enforcement currently sees exploitation occurring, and a look at those apps as well as characteristics of offenders and victims. They note that there has been an explosion of cases over the past five to 10 years involving children and technology.

The department adds that information and education is the best way to prevent these crimes and encourages the public to join them tonight to learn more about how to protect your child. The workshop will begin at 6:30pm at the Beaver Dam Middle School Auditorium. It is not required, but those going are asked to pre-register.
