BDHS Softball Wins Regional Title

The Beaver Dam softball team captured a WIAA Regional Championship with 4-1 win over Menasha in a game cut short because of the weather.

With the threat of thunderstorms in the air, the Golden Beaver struck early with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first.  Gabby Fakes and Liv DiStefano led off the frame with back to back singles.  Fakes scored on a fielders choice grounder by Carlee Lapen, then DiStefano crossed the plate on an RBI groundout by Ginny Bryant.

Menasha got on the board in the top of the 4th when Kylie Van De Loo scored on an RBI single by Maddie Zaves.  BD answered right back in the bottom of the inning when Riley Czarnecki singled home Gracie Halfman. BD added another insurance run in the bottom of the 5th when Audrianna Edwards crushed an RBI double to right center that plated Fakes.

The lightning came in the top of the 6th and the game was eventually called after the rains made the field unplayable.

Riley Czarneck struck out four and gave up one run on three hits  in four innings to earn the win.  Audrianna Edwards struck out one and gave up a hit in one inning to earn the save.

The heavy rains on Wednesday night moved the Golden Beavers game from their home diamond to the Beaver Dam Athletic Fields.

Beaver Dam will host Oshkosh West on Tuesday in a WIAA Division One Regional Final at the BDHS Diamond.  The first pitch is set for 5pm.  You can watch the game on DailyDodge TV presented by the Beaver Dam Unified School District, Columbus Family Dental and Hometown Glass and Improvement.  The John Deere Pregame Show is set for 4:50pm.
