BDHS Girls Hockey Wins A Pair On Opening Day

The Beaver Dam High School girls hockey team opened up their 2025-26 season with a pair of wins at Arrowhead High School on Black Friday.

In the opener the Golden Beaver picked up a 3-1 victory over the host Arrowhead squad.  After a scoreless first period, Emersen Damon scored an unassisted goal at 1:10 of the 2nd period to get BD on the board.  The Warhawks countered quickly as Julia Miller evened things up at 2:24.  Damon scored again with 1:37 left in regulation with an assist going to Addison Hoekstra.  Freshman Macy Damon added an empty netter with :36 seconds left to seal the win.   Junior goalie Dot Baker made 25 saves.

In the nightcap, junior Lilian Mansueto’s power play goal with :11 seconds left in regulation gave Beaver Dam the thrilling 3-2 win over Brookfield.  The Glaciers jumped on BD early when Evelyn Groneck found the five hole to give her team a 1-0 lead just 1:28 into the 1st period.   BDHS sophomore Brenna Rhodes countered with a goal of her own off of a rebounded shot from Audrey Lont.   Brookfield went up 2-1 just :12 seconds into the 2nd period when Madeline Macleod stole a pass and scored unassisted. Rhodes evened the game at 2-2 with an unassisted goal at 1:37 of the third.   Mansueto’s game winner was assisted by Hoekstra and Rhodes.    Dot Baker tallied 11 saves on 13 shots while Arianna Wallce turned back all nine shots she saw.

Saturday’s matchup with Lakeshore at Arrowhead on Saturday has been cancelled because of the impending snow.  The two sides hope to schedule a makeup sometime this season.  Beaver Dam (2-0) is next in action on Thursday night when they host Medford at the Family Center.  You can watch that game on DailyDodge TV and hear it on 1430 ESPN Beaver Dam.
