The WIAA Realignment Task Force met earlier this week to take a look at changes to football conference for the 2026-27 season. A handful of area schools would be on the move if the plan is approved. The next meeting is January 16th, with new conference to be set on March 11th, 2025.
After a two year stint in the East Central Conference, the current proposal for football would send Beaver Dam to the Badger Small Conference in 2026-27. That league would include Edgewood, Fort Atkinson, Lakeside Lutheran, McFarland, Mount Horeb/Barneveld, Sauk Prairie and Stoughton.
Watertown would also return to the Badger Large with DeForest, Milton, Monona Grove, Oregon, Sun Prairie East, Sun Prairie West, and Waunakee.
Horicon-Hustisford would move from the Capitol to the Eastern Suburban in a league that includes Cambridge, Poynette, Markesan, Pardeeville, Marshall and Waterloo.
East Troy would take Husticon’s place in the Capitol with Big Foot, Clinton, Columbus, Lake Mills, Lodi and Beloit Turner.
Portage would shift from the Badger Small to the Rock Valley with Delavan-Darien, Edgerton, Evansville, Jefferson, Monroe and Whitewater.
Deerfield would also shift from the Eastern Suburban to the Trailways with Dodgeland, Fall River/Rio, Johnson Creek, Lourdes Academy, Parkview/Albany, new Randolph/Cambria-Friesland co-op and Westfield.
A revised Southeast Conference in 8-Player Football would include; Wayland, Oakfield, Abundant Life Co-op, Montello, Palmyra-Eagle, Princeton-Green Lake, St. Johns Northwestern Academies and Williams Bay.
