BDHS Bowling Competes At Watertown

The Beaver Dam High School Bowling teams traveled to Watertown Bowl 18 on Sunday needing to have a good day to climb back into State Tournament contention.

The Beaver Dam Girls went 2-0 on the day jumping them up into second place in the District 6 Girls standings, just 2 games behind leader Watertown. Match 1 was a hot start against Lomira winning the first 3 games of the 9 game block. Lomira answered with the next 4 games in their favor forcing BD to win the last 2 games to take the match. The girls did just that. Senior Sophia Rudie tossed 11 strikes and Sophomore Rylee Tesch added 9 strikes in the match. Match 2 was a lopsided blowout, 9-0 versus Lakeside Lutheran. Rudie slammed 9 strikes and 0 opens in that match to solidify her top spot in the individual standings.

The boys had their backs against the wall most of the day, but managed to battle hard to end up 1-1 on the day and keep the District lead at a 3-way tie. Match 1 against Oconomowoc was a rough start to the day where BD had trouble scoring. They were down 4-2 needing to win the last 3 games for the match. The boys won game 7 but couldn’t put anything together after, losing the match 6-3. Match 2 against Watertown started out very similar. The Beavers found themselves in a 1-3 hole  before standing up and delivering some fatal blows. Averaging 233.8 for the final 5 games BD won 4 of those games to take the match. Senior Adam Paul led the way with 22 strikes on the day while Junior Garrett Boettcher added another 21. Sophomores Braxton Soldner(Dodgeland) and Quinn Warmka had a strong match 2 with 11 and 10 strikes respectively.

Up next for the Beavers is the Weston Winter Classic tournament on December 29th at Dale’s Weston Lanes in Weston, WI. District 6 competition will resume on January 5th at Watertown Bowl North.
