(Beaver Dam) The Beaver Dam Fire Department quickly knocked down a kitchen fire in the city Tuesday evening. The department was dispatched to 128 East South Street around 5pm. Upon arrival, crews found smoke coming from the first floor of the two story residence. Deputy Fire Chief Matthew Christian says firefighters advanced hose lines to the building, quickly knocking down the blaze within 10 minutes. There was fire and smoke damage throughout the kitchen area while smoke damage extended to the first and second floor of the building. Christian says the home’s occupant, Andrew Stommel, was treated at the scene and was able to return to the residence. He says the fire was caused by inattentive cooking. Assisting at the scene was the Hustisford Fire Department, Watertown Fire/EMS, Dodge County Emergency Response Team, Beaver Dam Police and Beaver Dam Department of Public Works. Alliant Energy assisted with utilities.
