BDACT Veterans Bid Fare Thee Well To Century Old Building

(Beaver Dam) Community Comment held its final show of the 2018 season at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre on Friday just over a week before the non-profit moves to its new location. The Fine Arts Center on Maple Avenue is a $3-million dollar, 24-thousand square foot facility with a 345-seat auditorium.

Joining us for the program at the century-old former Baptist church on North Spring Street was a founding member of the theatre troupe, Annette Kamps. She says the building has done a beautiful job for them since first opening their doors in 1983 and people love the theatre because of its intimacy, its acoustics and its aesthetics. Kamps says the most exciting part of the new theatre is that it is a total expression of community support that dates back to the group’s first performance of “Harvey” over 50 years ago. “We’re ready,” she says.

The public is invited to an open house at the new Fine Arts Center on Saturday, December 29. Two days later, the first performance at the new building as the Loco Vocals usher in New Years with a special grand opening performance.
