BDACT Paddle City Big Band Highlight Upcoming Concert

(Beaver Dam) The Paddle City Big Band will be having their third concert at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater later this month. The band is in its second year of existence and is a community-based volunteer jazz orchestra providing big band and modern jazz music for all to enjoy. Kim Halverson previews some of the songs that will be played at the upcoming show.

“One of the songs we’re playing at our concert, which is a [really] cool jazz shuffle called ‘Keep the Customers Satisfied’, which is [actually] written by Paul Simon of Simon and Garfunkel, and it was popular at the time,” says Halverson “So he [Buddy Rich] took that and created a big band arrangement of it.”

Another song the band will be playing is “Blackbird” by The Beatles. Todd Halverson says folks should come out and see the show because the Beaver Dam and the Dodge County area is a hotbed for musical talent.

“Whether it’s the Beaver Dam Community Band, Beaver Dam Area Community Theater, Beaver Dam Area Orchestra, the Dodge County Arts Association, [or] Paddle City Big Band,” says Todd Halverson. “Come see people that you know, people that you talk to, people that teach your kids.”

The third Paddle City Big Band concert will be on November 19th at 2pm in the Kamps Auditorium at the Beaver Dam Area Community Theater Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $15 apiece. A link to purchase tickets online is available HERE. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the box office, which is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm.
