(Dodge County) The average price for a gallon of gas in Wisconsin has dropped below $3 a gallon. Triple A’s Fuel Gauge reports that statewide gas is averaging $2.99 Tuesday.
That is .39-cents lower than the national average which is $3.38. Wisconsin’s average dropped nearly a dollar from a month ago. Motorists in Dodge County are also paying $2.99 for a gallon of gas on average.
Pump prices are three-cents cheaper to our north, as its $2.96 in Fond du Lac County. Gas costs $3.02 in Columbia County, it is $3.05 in Jefferson County, $2.98 in Green Lake County, and $2.89 in Washington County.
Officials with the Triple A say gas prices are dropping sharply and are only a nickel more per gallon than a year ago. They say a recent decision by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries to maintain output cuts of two million barrels per day could slow this decline.
The move’s purpose is to boost the global price of oil which has fallen on fears of demand weakness, specifically in China.
