Art Garcia, age 67, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam. He was born on August 15, 1956 in Jourdanton, Texas to Octaviano and Ancelma (Castro) Garcia.
Art received his GED at the age of 20. He worked at M & M Foundry in Waupun, then Westra Construction, and later, John Deere, where he retired in 2012.
On December 10, 1988, he married Sharon (Waldsmith) Shaw. Art truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures of playing tennis, golfing, camping, hockey and hunting. Art was one of the kindest people you could ever meet but he believed in respect.
After he retired, he helped his wife with her daycare, where he had a nickname for all the children and they all called him Artie. He also enjoyed his family time; vacations, holidays and weddings. In 2014, Arts health started to decline. His diabetes got the best of him. In 2019, Art was confined to a wheel chair and dialysis four days a week. This took a toll on him. He no longer has to suffer and there is another angel by the throne.
Art is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Elizabeth Garcia of Beaver Dam; stepchildren, Tonya (Brian) Lont of Waupun and Nicholas (Stacy) Shaw of Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Haley, Brady, Grayson, Chase and Elijah; five sisters, Gloria (Michael) Brown, Elida (Greg) Braun, Eliva (Alan) Palmisano, Molly (Ruben) Rodriguez, and Rose Fairchild-Garcia; brother, Ruben (Leisa) Garcia; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Laurie and Timothy Abhold, Sally and David Soravia; godchildren, Michele Wojahn and Teresa Garcia; many nieces, nephews and cousin; as well as his extended family and daycare families. He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law; sister, Dora Martinez; brothers, Jesse Garcia and Octaviano โJuniorโ Garcia; niece, Jocelyn McCann; nephew, Scot Berner; and special little friend, Bristol Bruesch.
