(JUNEAU) More than a year after a Beaver Dam woman was first reported missing, investigators say her husband is now charged in her death.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that 43-year-old Aaron Nelson was arrested Friday, May 15, in connection with the disappearance and homicide of Alexis Nelson. Prosecutors have charged him with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.
Alexis Nelson, 42, was first reported missing in the spring of 2025. In February, authorities widened their search. The Beaver Dam Police Department and Dodge County Sheriff’s Office worked together throughout the investigation before Aaron Nelson’s arrest on May 15.
He is currently being held in the Dodge County Jail.
In a news release, the sheriff’s office acknowledged the toll the investigation has taken on Alexis Nelson’s family and the community. Investigators said they will not release additional details because the case is now before the court and the investigation is continuing.
Update: Nelson’s bail was set at $1 million at a Monday hearing in Dodge County Court in Juneau. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28.
