(JUNEAU) If you’ve ever regretted selling off an old baseball card collection or wondered what that dusty jewelry box might be worth, this weekend could be your chance at redemption.
The Dodge County Collectors Clique is hosting its annual Antique and Collectible Sale on Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Juneau Community Center, 500 Lincoln Drive. Doors open at 9 a.m., and the show runs until 2 p.m.
Organizers say the event regularly draws about 500 paid admissions each year, bringing together buyers, browsers and longtime collectors from around the region.
Admission is $3. Children under 12 get in free. Food and beverages will be available.
Inside, shoppers can expect to find everything from antique advertising and vintage postcards to antique jewelry, toys and stoneware. But it’s not just about what’s for sale.
“We have a jewelry vendor — antique, classic, vintage, however you want to call it — jewelry,” said Paul Marose of the Dodge County Collectors Clique. “All of these people are very interested in talking about their hobby.”
Marose said the show isn’t just for serious buyers. Some people come simply to look around — something he relates to.
“A lot of the people who come are just nosy. That’s kind of where I started,” he said. “I’m the guy who sold all his ball cards for like $10 in 1970. And I sold all my 1,500 comic books about 1973 for $15. And I regret it.”
He said visitors are encouraged to bring along items they want to learn more about. While vendors won’t formally appraise pieces, chances are someone at the show can offer insight or background.
