Alsum Farms & Produce awards $10,000 in scholarships to area high school seniors

FRIESLAND, Wis. — Alsum Farms & Produce has awarded $10,000 in scholarships to high school seniors preparing for future education, according to a company press release.

The Friesland-based Wisconsin potato grower, packer and shipper awarded ten $1,000 scholarships through its annual high school senior scholarship program. The company says the money is intended to help with educational tuition expenses.

According to Alsum Farms & Produce, recipients were selected based on academic achievement, involvement in agriculture, community and youth organizations, and residence in the company’s growing or packing region.

This year’s scholarship recipients are Brock Dykstra of Cambria, Clay Hoksbergen of Randolph, Dylan Ryan of Fond du Lac, Jackson Drews of Pardeeville, Katherine Billhorn of Plain, Mary Zwald of Beaver Dam, Morgan Randall of Cambria, Nancy Hansen of Grand Marsh, Sawyer Bruins of Brandon and Wyatt Braker of Randolph.

“We are proud to invest in future leaders in agriculture and our rural communities through the Alsum Farms & Produce scholarship program,” said Larry Alsum, president and CEO of Alsum Farms & Produce. “We believe in supporting these young adults and are optimistic these students will seek careers in agriculture and the businesses that support agriculture.”

Alsum Farms & Produce is a family-owned farm, packing facility and logistics company headquartered in Friesland. The company grows Wisconsin Healthy Grown Certified potatoes and pumpkins and also packs and ships Wisconsin-grown potatoes and onions.
