(MADISON) Heavy snow and strong winds that swept across Dodge County Monday knocked out power for some homes and businesses, though most outages were brief as crews worked through blizzard-like conditions to restore service.
Alliant Energy says scattered outages popped up around the county as the winter storm moved through the region. The utility reported the outages were small in scale and crews were able to restore power quickly.
The company says it began preparing for the storm well before the snow and wind arrived. That included staging crews and equipment in key areas, coordinating with local partners and making sure teams were ready to respond if power lines or equipment were damaged.
As the storm developed Monday, Alliant Energy crews monitored conditions and responded to outages when it was safe to do so. Company officials say severe weather can sometimes slow restoration work, but Monday’s outages were not prolonged.
The utility says it will continue watching weather conditions and is prepared to respond if additional outages occur.
Anyone who loses power can report an outage or track restoration updates through Alliant Energy’s outage center at alliantenergy.com/outage.
