(MADISON) The Wisconsin Air National Guard is conducting the Sentry North exercise (formerly known as Northern Lightning) at Volk Field ANGB from June 2 to June 15. This will result in an increase in flight activity over central Wisconsin, with F-35s, F-16s, and other military aircraft scheduled to train between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. Aircraft will be flying above 30,000 feet. The FAA has authorized jets to operate at supersonic speeds within the Volk Military Operating Area, which may be audible at ground level.
The exercise is designed to hone the Air National Guard’s air dominance tactics and maintain readiness.ย While efforts are made to minimize noise, increased flight activity may result in some noise disruptions.ย
