(Juneau) The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Dodge County is reminding folks that their monthly Medicare Basics and Beyond classes are just around the corner. The classes are aimed at educating the public about federal health insurance for people aged 65 or older and are an introductory course for those using Medicare for the first time.
“Our next class that we have coming up is July 19th at 1 o’clock,” says Elder and Disability Benefits Specialist Jennie Farmer. “We will also have two classes in August, one will be August 21st at 1pm.”
The classes on July 19th and August 21st will be held in Juneau at the Human Services building, but the August 29th class will be held at 4pm at the Watertown Library. Elder Benefits Specialist Amanda Higgins says the class in Watertown is her favorite to teach because it is in collaboration with Jefferson County.
“I have been friends with the Jefferson County benefits specialist for a really long time, and I think this is going to be, like, our eighth or ninth year we’ve had this collaboration,” Higgins says.
She adds that it is a fantastic idea because many people can be packed into one room to share important information.
