Dodge County Residents Encouraged To Sign Up For ‘Planning Ahead’ Workshop

(Dodge County) The Aging and Disability Resource Center of Dodge County and the county’s UW – Extension are collaborating on several seminars for planning ahead to the end of life. On a recent Community Comment, Elder Benefits specialist and SHIP Counselor Amanda Higgins shared details.

“The topics include handling financial changes, talking about getting the medicals in place, advanced directives and legal directives, estate planning, choices in end-of-life care, final wishes, and understanding grief.”

The first session was in the fall, so feedback has been considered for the next course. It is a six-week seminar that is 90 minutes. Classes will be held at the Juneau Community Library on 250 North Fairfield Avenue. Other counties are also doing this program.

The classes are free and come with a workbook that contains additional resources.

Pre-registration is encouraged so that there is enough material like complimentary booklets that are dispersed for attending.

The end-of-life planning information workshops will run on Thursdays from 9am to 10:30am. The first class is March 28th. The following classes will run on 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25thof April, with the last class on May 2nd. For more information, you can call the UW Extension of Dodge County at 920-386-3790.
