(Beaver Dam) A Beaver Dam firefighter that was seriously injured in a training accident Monday evening is now in stable condition.
In a press release from the Beaver Dam Fire Department, the agency said that individual was transported from the scene by Flight for Life to Aurora Summit Hospital in Oconomowoc where he remains hospitalized. Two other firefighters were injured. They were treated and released from care Tuesday morning.
The accident happened around 7:42pm as the department was conducting ice rescue training on Beaver Dam Lake near Grape Island. Chief Michael Wesle says a fire department hovercraft struck the island, injuring the three firefighters on board.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Wesle says more details about the incident will be made public once it is available.
