(Watertown) The Watertown Unified School District was the recent recipient of a Department of Workforce Development grant. The district is one of 13 other schools to receive a share of $437-thousand-dollars in Technical Education Equipment Grants.
Funded through the Wisconsin Fast Forward Program, the grants will help school districts expand their advanced manufacturing education programs and connect more than 2,200 students to high-wage, high-demand, and high-skill careers.
Watertown is in line for $42,530. The money will be used to purchase a Metal Fiber Optic Laser CNC Table for the metals lab. Officials say this will allow STEM students to use more efficient fabrication methods and increase students’ exposure to advanced manufacturing training. They add that this equipment will be utilized by Madison College for adult welding courses during the evening as well as potential training opportunities for local employers.
