Hustisford School Boards Adopts Budget

(Hustisford) The Hustisford School Board has approved their 2019-2020 district budget. The $7.1-million-dollar document carries a tax levy of $3-million, which is a slight increase over last year. The mill rate of $8.85 per $1,000 of assessed value is a five-cent drop from what homeowners saw on their tax bill a year ago.

District Superintendent Heather Cramer says property values district-wide went up $19.2-million-dollars which helped lower that tax rate. She says a decrease in enrollment numbers and unpredictable health insurance costs resulted in the adoption of a deficit budget. She says their Fund 10 is projected to be at a deficit of $68,679 which stemmed from an increase in the number of people who enrolled in insurance.

Cramer says a citizen’s advisory committee is reviewing an in-depth facility studies and will come up with a plan on how the district should best proceed, which could result in a referendum. She says they will determine if any projects can fit within their budget or if there needs to be public support to keep their buildings sustainable.
