Waupun Man Seriously Hurt in Fond du Lac County Crash

(ROSENDALE) A Waupun man was seriously injured Tuesday after his SUV crossed the centerline and slammed into a semi-truck on Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County.

Deputies say the two-vehicle crash happened around 11:48 a.m. near Olden Road in the Town of Rosendale. According to a preliminary investigation, the SUV was traveling northbound when it lost control, crossed into the southbound lane, and struck the side of a semi-truck. After that initial impact, the SUV continued off the roadway and hit a power pole on the east side of the highway.

The Waupun driver suffered serious injuries and was flown by ThedaStar medical helicopter to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, though the truck and trailer sustained damage on the driver’s side.

Highway 26 was fully closed for about 30 minutes while the helicopter landed and emergency crews worked at the scene. A Wisconsin State Patrol inspector also responded and conducted a commercial motor vehicle inspection.

Multiple agencies assisted, including the Rosendale Fire Department, Rosendale First Responders, Ripon Ambulance, the Wisconsin State Patrol, ThedaStar, and Alliant Energy.

The crash remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
