(Fond du Lac) One person was killed in a two-vehicle crash in the township of Fond du Lac Thursday morning. First responders were dispatched to County Highway D near Hawes Court around 7:41am.
The initial investigation determined that a southbound vehicle on D failed to negotiate a curve, over corrected, and entered the northbound land resulting in a head-on collision with a northbound car.
The southbound vehicle, occupied by three individuals, was driven by a 19-year-old man from Texas. The teen, who authorities say was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other occupants sustained minor injuries. The operator of the northbound car, a 48-year-old woman from Oakfield, was uninjured.
Law enforcement note that witnesses reported observing the 19-year-old speeding prior to the crash. They add that speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
