The Beaver Dam High School football team heads to Sun Prairie East tonight for a huge Badger Large Conference game that you can hear on 1430 ESPN and watch on DailyDodge TV. The Golden Beavers (3-0) are ranked #6 in this week’s Wissports.net Division Two Coaches Poll while Sun Prairie East (1-2) will be hungry for a win after losses to D1 #2 Mukwonago and D2 #2 Waunakee. The Cardinals were ranked #4 in the preseason D2 poll.
Beaver Dam senior running back Gabe Klatt sits fourth in the state with 617 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Eli Bryant has thrown for 332 yards and seven TDs this season. Tight end Brandon Morrissey has grabbed a team leading three touchdown passes this season, while Kyler Keel has hit paydirt on two scoring receptions.
The Cardinals balanced offensive attack is led by senior Conner Stauff who has snared 24 passes for 305 yards and three TDs this year. Luke Damm has also caught a pair of TD passes from Drew Kavanaugh, who’s thrown for 565 yards and seven total TDs. Cardinals defensive back Sam Ostrenga is committed to play college football at FCS power North Dakota.
Last season at Derleth Field, the Cardinals blanked BD 42-0 behind three touchdown passes by QB Jerry Kaminski. Camron Mendoza rushed for 116 yards to pace the Golden Beaver offense.
Coverage on 1430 ESPN begins on Friday night at 6pm with the Friday Night Kickoff Show and the pregame show from the stadium starts at 6:40pm on both ESPN Beaver Dam and DailyDodge TV.
