Columbus Financial Institution Rep Talks Scams On Community Comment

(Columbus) Just days before Columbus police arrested the man attempting to con a woman out of $60,000, a representative from a local financial institution joined Community Comment to discuss the dangers and warning signs of such scams. Shaina Hannaman is the bank secrecy act officer of Farmers and Merchants Union Bank in Columbus.

One of her many tasks include monitoring day-to-day activities for any suspicious activity and having conversations with customers about any potentially fraudulent actions. She says scammers are becoming more brazen in recent years.ย

โ€œThey show up in person to your home to collect this cash and itโ€™s scary,โ€ says Hannaman.

Hannaman says it is important for the public to do their research before sending anyone money.
