(Beaver Dam) The ribbon was cut Thursday on several new fitness venues at the YMCA of Dodge County. The Zieman KidZone, Queenax Fitness System, Child Watch Room and Child Care Playground launched last week. Following the closure of YKids 2 Child Care earlier this year, the leadership group at the Y were looking for different avenues to reuse that equipment. It was ultimately decided to bring the playground gear and toys along with the already donated synthetic turf to their Beaver Dam facility, which helped establish the child watch and child care playground areas. Through donations from Rich and his late wife Nancy Zieman the Y was able to purchase an Xbox/Kinect system for the KidZone. The facility was also able to buy a Queenax which is a suspension fitness training system that can be reconfigured for personal training, small group, circuit and group exercise classes. Rich Zieman says the YMCA of Dodge County means a great deal to him and adding that it meant a lot for Nancy to utilize their pool during her health struggles. YMCA of Dodge County CEO Dirk Langfoss says he is proud to offer state-of-the-art fitness opportunities to the Beaver Dam community. He says that the YMCA of Dodge County is the first Y to put a Queenax system into their facility. Langfoss also thanked the support given from the community which has helped the Y expand their services.
