Work Continues On Community Theatre

5/13/17 – Preparations are underway for Beaver Dam Area Community Theatre’s new building. The group is renovating the former St. Patrick’s Elementary School which will give them an increase of almost 10-thousand square feet compared to their current location, plus more seating in the main auditorium and handicap accessibility. Managing Director David Saniter told us on WBEV’s Community Comment that fundraising efforts are still ongoing but the theatre has received generous support so far. Saniter says that they have still have a couple hundred thousand dollars to go but there is currently match grant from Bob Keller for $100,000 which means any donation to the new building will be doubled. people can sponsor seats at either $600 or $750 dollars depending on location. Granite floor tiles can be inscribed for $900 dollars apiece. Finally, a name can be enshrined on a donor board in the lobby for $1000. Saniter breaks down the total cost of the project. Saniter says that the total cost of the project will run between an estimated $2.3-million to $2.4-million. He adds that certain variations like scene shops, extra space on the second level, and fundraising efforts will dictate the final cost. The group plans on having the new building finished by this time next year. For more information on the project and on donating, you can visit www.bdact.org.
