WisDOT Planning Roadway Project In Town Of Elba

(Elba) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is in the initial stages of developing a roadway project in the Town of Elba. Work would rehabilitate the Highway 16 bridge over the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad. Improvements include concrete overlay, spot painting, replace existing guardrail as well as approach slabs and expansion joints. The project is located roughly four-and-a-half miles from the City of Columbus. Construction is scheduled for 2024 but could be advanced to 2022 depending on funding availability. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says when work begins, there will be significant impact for motorists, farmers, and others. The roadway would be closed to through traffic and detoured during construction. Access would be maintained to all properties in the project area. A signed detour is anticipated to use Highway 73, Highway 151, Highway 33, and Highway 26. Due to the pandemic, no in-person public meeting will be held. State transportation officials encourage those impacted to submit any questions or concerns about the project.
