WisDOT Moves To Increase Number Of School Bus Drivers

(Wisconsin) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is making some changes to help school districts find more bus drivers. The DMV says it is doing all it can by removing barriers so more people will apply. A portion of the test that has stopped some candidates will be waived until March 31st.

People who get the required license through the waiver would only be cleared for school buses – not trucks, motor coaches, or other commercial vehicles.

DMV Administrator Kristina Boardman says the state’s CDL examiners will focus on the testing requirements that are critical to safety in order to help school districts and communities struggling to recruit qualified school bus drivers.
