Wisconsin Starts Collecting Online Sales Tax October 1st

(Madison) As soon as the U-S Supreme Court cleared the way, it was a foregone conclusion Wisconsin would start collecting online sales taxes.  The date established by the Walker administration is October 1st.  The Legislative Fiscal Bureau estimates the tax collection will generate an additional 90-million dollars in revenue over the next year, then another 120-million the second year.  The Supreme Court ruled last month that states can collect taxes for online sales far more broadly than they have in the past.
