(Juneau) Wisconsin sheriffs are calling for calm across the state. The Badger State Sheriffs’ Association, which Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt is First Vice President of, issued a press release saying that many Wisconsin residents were disappointed, shocked and angered by either the national election results or the rioting in Washington DC. The association says they acknowledge while many people in our communities feel frustrated and not heard, they ask those who want to voice their concerns to do so peacefully and respectfully. They say that they will be reaching out to each county sheriff, asking them to request that in the coming weeks that all citizens exercise their constitutional rights with discretion, care and common sense in mind. The association says Wisconsin sheriffs are committed to keeping the peace while serving and protecting their citizens. They ask the public to use good judgement if plans for protests continue and to consider the repercussions of your actions before taking part.
