Winnebago County Officials Mourning The Loss Of Two Public Servants

(Winnebago County) Winnebago County officials are expressing their sorrow over the death of an Oshkosh couple killed in a Fond du Lac County traffic accident last Friday. Fifty-eight-year-old Paul Delap died at the scene and his wife, 56-year-old Pamela Delap, died later at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center.

The two were heading north on Van Dyne Road in the town of Friendship on Paulโ€™s motorcycle when 17-year-old Lily Miller of Fond du Lac went through a stop sign on Subway Road and they struck her vehicle. Miller was taken to St. Agnes Hospital to be evaluated.

Paul was a Winnebago County Highway Foreman and Pamela was a former member of the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities. Winnebago County Executive Jon Doemel says Paul had been a dedicated employee of the highway department since 1991 and eventually elevated to the position of paving foreman.

He adds that Pam was a fierce advocate for people with disabilities and was instrumental in the construction of an accessible playground in the city of Oshkosh.

The county is working to display Paulโ€™s plow truck as a temporary memorial. Fond du Lac County Sheriffโ€™s officials say inattentive driving is believed to be a factor in the accident.
