WFCA Suspends Summer Football All-Star Games

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association has suspended this summer’s High School Football All-Star games because host sites of UW-Whitewater and UW-Oshkosh will be closed for the summer because of COVID-19.

Six area high school football players and one coach had been chosen to play in this summers’ games on July 18th at UW-Oshkosh’s Titan Stadium.   Area players who were chosen to play in the Small School South Team include; Bryce Friday, DL, Markesan; Teagan Herschleb, DB, Columbus; Dylan Horstmeyer, RB, Marshall; Zach Kehl, OLB, Horicon/Hustisford; Aidan Knudson, OL, Cambria-Friesland; Dyan Schmitt, QB, Horicon/Hustisford.  Cambria-Friesland assistant coach James Knudson had been named an assistant for the Small School South Team.

Here’s is the letter the WFCA released on their website on Tuesday.

The WFCA leadership along with our partner, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, have been informed by both UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater that their campuses are closed for summer camps and events, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the WFCA has decided to suspend the 2020 All Star games and activities at this point. The WFCA will continue to monitor the situation. We will update players/parents/coaches if the restrictions are lifted before a final decision is made.

Note: Players on the updated rosters will receive their all-star game jersey, any incentive wear and game program. Children’s Wisconsin will be communicating with each player/family in the near future about receiving these items.

Sincerely,
WFCA Executive Board
