WFCA Officially Cancels All-Star Games

The Wisconsin Football Coaches Association has officially cancelled this summer’s High School Football All-Star games because of COVID-19.  The games had been scheduled for July 18th at UW-Oshkosh.

Six area high school football players and one coach had been chosen to play in this summer’s event.   Area players who were chosen to play in the Small School South Team include; Bryce Friday, DL, Markesan; Teagan Herschleb, DB, Columbus; Dylan Horstmeyer, RB, Marshall; Zach Kehl, OLB, Horicon/Hustisford, Dyan Schmitt, QB, Horicon/Hustisford; and Aidan Knudson, OL, Cambria-Friesland;.  Cambria-Friesland assistant coach James Knudson had been named an assistant for the Small School South Team.

Here’s is the letter the WFCA released on their website.

The WFCA is saddened to inform you that the 2020 WFCA All Star Games, benefitting Children’s Wisconsin of Wisconsin, and the All-Star banquet are cancelled, due to the Covid pandemic. We realize that this is disappointing to the players, parents, coaches and fans of the games, but the current situation without the use of college campuses makes it logistically impossible to hold the All-Star Games this year. We look forward to resuming the WFCA All-Star Games in July of 2021. Our partners at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin will be contacting the players about receiving their game jersey, incentive wear and game programs. Banquet reservations will be refunded within the next 2 weeks. We appreciate all the efforts of players, parents and coaches prior to this difficult decision and wish you the best going forward in these unprecedented times.

Sincerely,
WFCA Executive Board
